Bands:  How to get an Emma Scott Presents gig!

esp

I receive a lot of emails everyday from bands who want to play an Emma Scott Presents gig!  I will listen to every single band who emails me, and if I like them, I will find them a slot.

I put my Emma Scott Presents gigs on at the O2 Academy 3 in Birmingham and The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton. Both excellent venues! Playing one of the Emma Scott Presents gigs gets your band noticed and a LOT of exposure, so get involved!

At the moment we do roughly 3 gigs a month, and we are hoping to step this up as the year goes on.

We keep the prices of these gigs as low as we can, so please come and support them.

If you are in a band and want a slot - you must email me via the website: www.emmascottpresents.co.uk and give as much detail about your band via the CONTACT form.

Include where you're from; what genre of music you are, your website/myspace/FB links and a small biog with the highlights of your career!

These few pieces of information help me a lot when booking bands, so it's well worth putting them on in ANY gig application that you make.

For more information on getting decent gigs and keeping them - come to my Break Your Band seminar on Feb 27th!

Good luck x

Emma Scott's Transmission Radio Skool!

www.transmissionradioskool.co.uk

This has been a long time coming…but I believe I am almost there….and I can't wait!

The Transmission Radio Skool is coming soon, to start with, it will be held in Birmingham.

3 levels will be taught by myself

There'll be an Absolute Beginner class, Intermediate class and Masterclass.

Absolute Beginner - This class is aimed at youngsters who are interested in radio as a career, but also aimed at people who know nothing about the radio industry but are tempted in having a dabble. Maybe you listen to the radio and think you can do much better, but you've never been in a radio studio?  This is the class for you! As well as a session in the studio, you will learn about jobs in radio, and what work goes into each radio show.

Intermediate - Aimed at media students at college or Uni who know a little about radio, but need more information as this is the area of media they love the most.  This class is also aimed at people already doing a little bit of radio, maybe in hospital, college, uni or other smaller radio stations who want to know if they've got what it takes to get a show on a bigger station.  There will be a lot of practical work with producing a radio show, prepping, interviewing techniques and we'll have a proper session in the studio reading travel news and more!

Masterclass - for students in the middle of, or coming to the end of their media and journalism courses who really want to know what working in radio is all about and how to get in.  There will be a heavier emphasis on presenting as well as prepping for shows, interviewing technique and applying for jobs. We'll work on putting a specialist show together, as well as research and what you need to put on your demo - to get you your dream job!

You will walk away with fabulous knowledge on what it's like to work in radio and how to get your foot in the door!

Every class will contain a Q and A session with myself and everyone will get to have a go in the studio.

Each class is 3 hours long and I'll be opening lessons to anyone from 15 to 55 - or there abouts! They will be held on a Saturday, and I will give full details as soon as I get the green light!

Please feel free to email me to ask for any further information to see which class is best for you:

transmissionskool@btinternet.com

Hope to hear from you soon!

Loads going on! Radio School/Emma Scott Presents/Writer's Block/Band Mentoring…Laughing

I'm busy getting ready for my first few LECTURES.  I talk about my 22 years in radio and how to get on the radio if you're in an unsigned band.  I've had some great feedback, and people are walking away with a good idea of what goes on within a radio station, how to get their band heard by presenters, and take their careers forward.  If you want me to lecture at your college or uni, get in touch via the email address below.

With all my expertise within the radio industry, putting on gigs, listening to and playing unsigned bands, I'm happy to start mentoring bands on a one-to-one basis.  I can work with the band over a course of sessions, find out where you are and where you want to be - and help you get there.  If you feel you could benefit from some mentoring from myself and my business partner, then email me emmascottlimited@btinternet.com

My RADIO SCHOOL is looking as though it's gonna happen!  The plan is for it to be a 6 hour crash-course into radio, with the opportunity to make a radio demo, which you will be able to send out to radio stations and be proud of!  If you've ever been interested in learning more about what goes on behind the scenes in radio, how a radio show is put together, how playlists work, or if you just want to get behind the mic, then this will be ideal for you!!  If you're interested in being a "student" then email me emmascottlimited@btinternet.com and I will get in touch with more details.

The EMMA SCOTT PRESENTS gigs are coming back!  The first one (teaming up with MAS Records) is on April 27th at the Academy 3 in Birmingham.  I am going to be putting on bigger gigs at other venues later on this year too. I'll be sure to keep you posted on Twitter, Face ache and My Space though, and keep checking back here too! If you're in a band and would like to play, then use the email address above to give me more details about yourselves, and some links to your music.

The autobiography is coming along well.  Around 65,000 words done, but I'm suffering from writers-block at the moment - maybe because I have so many other things going on.

Well, I'd better get on.  Hope you're well, speak soon!
